We were with a small group of tourists, just minutes into a daylong tour of the hoodoo rock formations in Ürgüp and the Göreme cave churches, when the motor of my Nikon got stuck and the film wouldn’t transport. So I left Anne with the group and hitch-hiked back into Ürgüp to get my “emergency” camera from the hostel. Soon I was back with the group to admire the beautiful landscape and learn about the history of Cappadocia.
